Katy’s Story

Katydid is the creation of Texas designer and entrepreneur Katy Messersmith. Katy’s journey into fashion began in 2002 when she was working at a clinic in Ghana as a volunteer. When Katy’s luggage went missing soon after her arrival, she saw it as an opportunity to get creative. Instead of heading to the closest store, Katy went to work collaborating with a few local seamstresses. Together, they created a collection of colorful wrap skirts and vibrant bags.

That experience was a real game changer for Katy, and she returned to her Dallas, TX, home with a passion for design and a desire to create even more women’s clothing and accessories.

Since 2002, Katydid has grown into a lifestyle brand of cute apparel, entertaining accessories, and trendy gifts. Katy’s sense of fashion and unstoppable work ethic has turned Katydid into an emerging leader in popular women’s apparel and accessories.

The business continues to grow every year, and it was recently listed in the Inc. 5000 as one of the fastest-growing private businesses in America. Katydid is still based in Katy’s hometown of Dallas, TX, but it’s now located in the heart of the design district.

Return Policy

At Katydid, we make it easy to find an outfit or accessory that you absolutely love while shopping. We’ve done our best to only include products and other apparel that we know our customers will love. When we’re designing these options, we pay special attention to the fit, the quality, and the overall design. On each of our product pages, we identify information about the product and include pictures so you can have a truly accurate idea of how our products really stand out.

We are constantly working to make sure that you’re completely satisfied with your experience at Katydid. For that reason, we offer a generous 15-day return policy, beginning the day you receive the item.

Submit a return request
Email info@katydid.com with a photo of your product and reason for return to request a return on the respective order. Provide your order #.

If your return request is approved and requires shipping, then you will receive an email with shipping instructions and a return shipping label. After the product is returned, you receive a refund for the product. You will not be refunded for the original shipping costs.

Damages

If you receive your items and find they are defective or damaged, you can contact us and we’ll take care of the return process. You must notify us within three days of getting your order that there is something wrong with the item. If possible, please leave the tags on!

Returns

There may be some other instances where we can accept returns. These are due to the size of the items and other factors. If you are not satisfied with your order, it’s best to contact us first and we can help you with an exchange or a replacement. This is time-sensitive, though, so make sure you do it before your 15 days are up!
